Games - Rites

"Rites of the Lights"

2D Unity RPG Platformer Game

At the yearly coming-of-age ceremony on the planet Celestus, each youth receives one magical Auralite stone, some of which have the power control the elements. However, when a young girl named Vivienne receives two Auralites, something unheard of in the land, a mysterious series of events begins to unfold, causing her to make the ultimate choice: traitor to her kingdom or traitor to herself.

I built this game in the Unity game engine using the Visual Studio editor, and I designed all of the assets in Photoshop. The game consists of three levels and several short cutscenes to tell a portion of a fantasy story I wrote and aim to publish in the future.

I created this game for my senior project to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Digital Arts & Sciences at the University of Florida's Digital Worlds Institute. The project was presented as part of UF's online Convergence 2020 Event on April 23rd, 2020, and to achieve my Summa Cum Laude designation, I recorded my process of designing this game in my senior thesis, published in the UF Digital Library.

Games - Cat Burglar
"The Cat Burglar"
2D Unity Platformer Game

The player controls Curiosity, the infamous cat burglar of Barkington City. Jump from roof to roof and window to window to find gems, jewels and other loot, while avoiding the police "Watch Dogs" to avoid being detected. Help Curiosity pull off his next heist!

I created this for the final project for a game design course. I designed and programmed the game in the Unity game engine and Visual Studio and created all of the game art in Photoshop (apart from a few particle effects that were provided by the course). I had so much fun designing this game, utilizing my love of classic movies (hence the film-strip look on the edges of the screen), my love of mysteries, and my love of cute characters. I later altered the player character design for some of my 2D animation projects, changing the cat from a sly thief into a "good guy" detective.

Production Time: 10 Weeks

Software: Unity, Visual Studio, Photoshop, Premiere Pro

Games - Hugs n Haunts

"Hugs 'n' Haunts"

2D Unity Platformer Game

Spookster the ghost has been all alone in the Mystifying Mansion, and all he wants is to have a real friend. His wish is granted when Braden the tourist stumbles upon the mansion...except that he is terrified of ghosts. Navigate through the mansion and avoid the unfriendly Werewolves to help Spookster make a friend!

My roles in the team included being the project leader, level designer, and lead programmer. To create the level designs, I illustrated the concept sketches for the levels in Photoshop, using art created by the team. Once this was finished, I utilized the assets created by the team and programmed the levels and cutscenes in Unity using Visual Studio.

Games - Cherry On Top
"Cherry on Top"
3D Unity Platformer Game

Little Cherry has always wanted to ascend to the summit of the giant ice cream sundae mountain. Guide her through yummy perils on her journey to the top!

I programmed the game in the Unity game engine and Visual Studio and created the assets and their animations (excluding some of the decorations from the Unity Store) in Maya 2018. I also created a lot of the textures using Photoshop, utilizing some images from morguefile.com, a great resource for free images. I created the video using Premier Pro.

This project was presented as part of UF's Convergence Event on April 25th, 2019.

Production Time: 13 Weeks

Software: Unity, Visual Studio, Maya 2018, Photoshop, Premier Pro

Games - Fastlane

"Fastlane"

2.5D Unity Shooter Game

Guide the hovercar through the futuristic city in a similar style to twin-stick shooter games (using the keyboard instead) to avoid the obstacles and shoot the enemies in your path. Watch out for different enemy types! Some need multiple shots to destroy! If things get too tough, use the "god mode" button to gain invincibility!

I served as the 2D/UI artist and as a programmer for a team of students to create this game. I utilized Photoshop to create the 2D background, UI assets, and some level concept ideas. I also programmed the UI and functionality for the player score, health, particle effects, and the "god mode" feature in Unity and Visual Studio. The other students in my team were responsible for creating the player movement, enemy behaviors, parallax background effects, and level flow, along with creating the awesome trailer video.
