"Curiosity the Detective Cat"
2D Animated Short
Curiosity is a struggling detective in Barkington City when he spots his big chance to become successful. An expensive ring has been stolen from the museum, and it is up to him to find the thief and gain recognition for his sleuthing skills!
I fully animated this short film in Toon Boom Harmony. I had previously puppeted the character rig in the program for previous animation assignments for a 2D animation course and utilized him for this final project for the semester. The character design was adapted from the player character I had created for my "The Cat Burglar" 2D Unity game, changing my character from a sly thief into a "good guy" detective. I had previously puppeted the character and animated him fully in Toon Boom Harmony. I also added the sounds and music with After Effects and created the animatic storyboard and character turnaround using Toon Boom Harmony.

"An Un-Pawfect Ringtone"
2D Camera Movement & Sound
Curiosity the cat detective is happily strolling along when his mobile phone starts ringing. Things don't go well when he can't figure out how to turn it off.
The goal of this project was to practice 2D camera movement and storytelling with sound effects. The character design was adapted from my design of the player character from my "The Cat Burglar" 2D Unity game, changing my character from the sly thief into the "good guy" detective. I had previously puppeted the character and animated him fully in Toon Boom Harmony. I added the sound effects using After Effects.

"One Day"
2D Lip Sync
Curiosity the cat detective is complaining, lamenting all the missing animals he must find, because they can't seem to help wandering off.
The goal of this project was to practice 2D lip synching and storytelling by repurposing dialogue from TV into a new, unrelated story. The character design was adapted from my design of the player character from my "The Cat Burglar" 2D Unity game, changing my character from a sly thief into a "good guy" detective. I had previously puppeted the character and animated him fully in Toon Boom Harmony.

2D Character Acting
Curiosity is a detective on the beat. When he discovers some footprints at the crime scene, he is hot on the trail.
The goal of this project was to showcase a unique behavior by an original 2D character. The character design was adapted from my design of the player character from my "The Cat Burglar" 2D Unity game, changing my character from a sly thief into a "good guy" detective. I puppeted the character and fully animated him in Toon Boom Harmony. I also utilized reference footage of myself while animating the movements.

"Gizmo Goes Green"
2D Character Puppeting
Gizmo the cheerful robot is trying to keep the earth green!
I participated in the creation of this project as part of a three-person team. I was responsible for converting the artwork designed by another team member into a character rig, ready to be animated by our third team member. I separated the art files in Photoshop and exported them into separate PNGs. Using Toon Boom Harmony, I puppeted the character's joints and limbs to allow the character to be animated. The third team member was responsible for animating the character and adding the sound effects.

The little flour sack is jumping around happily, but the mood changes when it trips over a stone lying on the ground.
The goal of this project was to utilize the 12 Principles of Animation to create weight and emotion for our character. I drew each frame by hand using the Toon Boom Harmony program.
